As citizens of our district it is important to select a candidate wisely, for we entrust that person to govern over us. What kind of person do we want to represent us? Consider Dr. Patrick Johnston, who is running for state representative.
As a patient of Dr. Johnston's, we respect his sincere interest in those he sees; as members of our church we've appreciated the presence his family has brought to our congregation: their love for the Lord, deep devotion to their children and their example of pursuing righteousness. Over the years they have faithfully served us in the children's ministry, as worship leaders and helping with the disabled. Dr. Johnston and his wife, Elizabeth serve our community as well. Several thousand have attended the "Passion for Life" event held at Secrest Auditorium for the past three years.
The message of hope, conviction and compassion regarding the unborn is portrayed beautifully through the area musicians, worship and speakers. This year alone over $7,500 was raised to support the Heartbeat Family Center. As a mother of many young children it is no small thing to pull together a community-wide event, yet they have freely given themselves in joy, with servant hearts. Dr. Johnston's concern for the unborn is well evidenced by his deeds.
And knowing his passion for what is right and just grounded firmly in God's Word, combined with humility and a servant's heart will lead him to serve with integrity as our state representative. He is a strong, capable leader with a keen discernment of our times and has led a clean campaign. But don't take my word for it.
