In the Times Recorder's recent endorsement for the 94th District, the editor states that "nominating the physician (Dr. Patrick Johnston) would prove disastrous for the GOP" and that "Johnson espoused views that place him far out of the mainstream."
My question for the readers is, "Are Len LaCara's (Managing editor of the Times Recorder and Coshocton Tribune) views mainstream, or has he just determined for everyone else what the politically correct positions should be?"
I listened to the online debate between Dr. Johnston and Troy Balderson and the fact is Mr. Balderson agreed with most of the positions that Dr. Johnston has taken, despite what the editors would lead you to believe. Dr. Johnston's crime is that he has not taken positions that are to the liking of Managing Editor Len LaCara. The media have chosen John McCain for the Republicans, now they want to choose the state representatives as well.
If you listen to the debate, you will find that Dr. Johnston believes that:
Perhaps the question voters should be asking is, "What are Len LaCara's personal views, has he interjected them into his journalism, and do they represent the 'mainstream' of the 94th District?"
Dr. Johnston is an honest, God-fearing man whose patients trust him with their lives. Len LaCara says you can't trust him with your vote. I trust Dr. Johnston more than I trust Len LaCara. Too bad LaCara doesn't have to win an election for managing editor of the Times Recorder.
