The Second Amendment guarantees a personal right to keep and bear arms,and 
I am committed to protect this basic constitutional right. History is full of examples of tyrants such as Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Pol Pot, and Mao tse Tung, who first disarmed, then terrorized their subjects. Gun crimes are higher in areas that have the strictest, most oppressive gun control laws.(1) “Gun control” is job security for criminals and tyrants. It is not a coincidence that most of the mass-shootings in our nation’s history occur in “gun-free zones.” Disarming the law-abiding population is not how to protect citizens from gun crimes; indeed, it makes gun crimes more likely.
Thomas Jefferson said, "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
With every crime committed with a gun comes a new wave of liberals crying out for more gun confiscation and gun control. I do not believe that those who want to disarm the law-abiding public have the public’s best interest at heart. Injustice is never in the public’s best interest, and it is unjust to respond to gun crimes by depriving the innocent and the victims of their God-given right of self-defense and their constitutional right to carry the means of that defense on their person. You punish crime by punishing criminals with a means sufficient to discourage the crime. If you want to stop the next shooting, don’t disarm the citizens and victims, encourage them to defend themselves.
I am committed to protect your right to keep and bear arms and will not let liberals in the Statehouse exploit gun crimes to deprive you of your right to defend yourself. I have been a member of the N.R.A. for almost a 
decade, and was a member of Ohioans for Concealed Carry for two years before Ohio passed legislation that allows citizens to carry concealed weapons. I am committed to your self-defense.
I will work to improve the present concealed-carry legislation by clarifying in law that you have the right to carry your concealed weapon on your person in your car. I will work to make sure that you can carry your concealed weapon in all public places. I am committed to your self-defense. I am committed to your right to keep and bear arms and carry those arms on your person.
